📝 Notas e Desenvolvimento
The central mindset of an essentialist is based on 3 principles:
- Individual choice: We can choose how to spend our energy and time. Without choice, it makes no sense to talk about trade-offs.
- The prevalence of noise: almost everything is noise and very few things are exceptionally valuable. This is the justification for taking time to find out what is most important. As some things are much more important, the effort to find them is worth it.
- The reality of trade-offs: We cannot have everything or do everything. If we could, there would be no reason to evaluate or eliminate options. Since we accept the reality of trade-offs, we stop asking ourselves, “How can I make everything work?” And start asking the most honest question “What problem do I want to solve?”
